Congratulations on your first step on the path to adventure and excitement, we are excited that you are considering joining us!  Please review the requirements below and contact the Troop's Membership Coordinator or Scoutmaster for more information regarding the application process or to schedule a visit prior to joining.  We look forward to meeting you soon!

You can view a copy of our brochure by following this link.  The brochure has a brief description of our history, a short list of recent events and some of the many benefits of joining Scouting with Troop 1.  Use the brochure to get a sense of what we are all about - adventure, excitement, history, leadership, opportunity and fun!



New registration

Worksheet
You can use this worksheet to help you complete the application process.  This worksheet is not the application but it can be used to track your progress with the application as well as requirements for obtaining your Boy Scout badge.  Details on the application requirements are also available in the Boy Scout Handbook (pg. 16).

Application
You can obtain the application here, in the requirements listed below, at the local Council Office or at Troop 1's "Scout Shack" if you visit us to learn more about our unit and activities.

New Scout
Please complete steps 1, 3 and 9 below then contact the Membership Coordinator or ScoutmasterAfter you are registered, complete all other steps below as soon as possible then participate in a Scoutmaster conference to earn your Boy Scout badge.

From Webelos
We look forward to meeting with you if you are a Webelo I and would like to start planning future activities with our Troop or would like more information.  If you are a Webelo II and would like our Troop to participate in your Arrow of Light ceremony or would like assistance with completing Arrow of Light requirements please contact the Membership Coordinator or Scoutmaster.  After your Arrow of Light ceremony you will need to complete the application as described in the New Scout section above.



Requirements for joining and earning the Boy Scout badge:

1. Meet the age requirements. Be a boy who is 11 years old, or one who has completed the fifth grade or earned the Arrow of Light Award and is at least 10 years old, but is not yet 18 years old.

These are verified through your completed application form when it is submitted to the local Council Office.

2. Find a Scout Troop near your home.

Troop 1 should be near your home so that you do not experience any barriers in getting to regular meetings or planned activities.

Find out if Troop 1 is in your neighborhood with this map by navigating to the "Boy Scouts Boys 11-17 Y.O." tab then by entering your zip code in the search bar.

You can also locate Troop 1 by viewing our Calendar then by following the "Map" link from the details for any of our regular Thursday meetings.  A new browser window or tab will open with a map showing "The Scout Shack."

You can also see the neighborhood and general area where the Troop meets by looking at the "Location" image on the right side of the pages of this blog.

3. Complete a Boy Scout application and health history signed by your parent or guardian.

4. Repeat the Pledge of Allegiance.

5. Demonstrate the Scout Sign, Salute, and Handshake.

6. Demonstrate tying the square knot.

7. Understand and agree to live by the Scout Oath, Law, Motto, Slogan, and the Outdoor Code.

8. Describe the Scout Badge.

9. Complete the pamphlet exercises. With your parent or guardian, complete the exercises in the pamphlet How to Protect Your Children From Child Abuse: A Parent’s Guide.  A detachable copy of the pamphlet is also located in the front of the Scout Handbook.


10. Participate in a Scoutmaster conference. Turn in your Boy Scout application and health history form signed by your parent or guardian, then participate in a Scoutmaster conference.
    Contact the Scoutmaster and come to one of our meetings with your completed paperwork (application, health history form and pamphlet exercises).

    Be sure to bring your parent or guardian to the meeting, we want to meet them also!




    Transferring

    If you are a registered Scout in another another unit and would like to transfer to Troop 1 please print and complete the first page of this transfer form then contact the Membership Coordinator (adult volunteers can complete the second page).
